What an interesting mix of guests were booked for the most recent episode of “Turning Hard Times Into Good Times”. We had a well educated author that believes our universities are turning our people into non thinking socialists. Also, a precious metals coin dealer and a president of a junior coal miner.

Since Nixon took us off the international gold standard in 1971, spending by the U.S. government as well as individuals and corporations has run amok. Martin Gross, author of “National Suicide” reports that government is not only spending trillions of dollars it doesn’t have and thus sentencing our children to a life of poverty, but its programs are in many instances downright fraudulent.

Even those programs that may not be riddled with fraud and abuse have had many negative unintended consequences.  For example, even though the government has spent several trillion dollars for welfare since 2000, the number of people below the poverty line has risen above the 37 million Americans since then. Foreign policies relating to China and immigration are also destroying our living standards.

The national government spending scam is resulting in the rich getting richer at the expense of the middle class. What can be done to stop this horrible trend? Author Martin Gross explains.

Martin L. Gross has written more than a dozen books, including the New York Times bestseller The Government Racket: Washington Waste from A to Z, which began the serious debate over capricious and wasteful government. His 1995 bestseller, The Tax Racket, exposed the excesses of the IRS and asked for its elimination. Three of his prior nonfiction works, The Brain Watchers, The Doctors, and The Psychological Society, stimulated public debate, and resulted in Congressional hearings and reforms. To date Gross has testified before six Congressional committees on government. 

He is the author of the new book "National Suicide: How Washington Is Destroying the American Dream from A to Z." In his book, Gross talks about the dangerous combination of high taxes and overspending leading to “National Suicide.”
